The accommodation on the DESY site can be booked via EMBL secretaries (Ivanka Fernandes Araujo ivanka.araujo@embl-hamburg.de or Margret Fischer, margret@embl-hamburg.de).
If you come outside normal working hours, the key for your room can be collected from the porter's lodge, of the main DESY entrance (Notekstrasse, 85). The porters are there 24 hours a day. In the evening, there is a bistro working on the DESY site (building 9a).
If the allocated time starts in the morning, it is recommended that the users arrive in the evening prior to the first day of the experiment. Upon arrival, the samples can be stored in the fridge in the user room (ground floor, turn left after entering the building, 1st door).
Two persons are usually required if you wish to measure "round the clock". In any case, subject to the space limitations at the beamline and in the Wetlab, it is expected that not more than three visitors are coming to perform the experiment.
Note that the number of persons, whose expenses may be covered via the EU Access Grant, is limited (see the Beamline User Guide). You will be informed in the notification about beamtime allocation, how many visitors can be supported via EU Grant for your experiment. You may apply for a complementing access support from a limited funding scheme utilizing other in-house resources (Strategy Fund). In any case, to ensure the most economic travel and lodging, the air tickets and on-site accommodation should be booked well in advance.
