Travel to EMBL Hamburg
EMBL Hamburg is situated at the campus of DESY, (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron) in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld. Hamburg has an extensive public transport system (railway and bus). Tickets are available from vending machines at the train stations or directly from the bus driver. A three-day ticket or 24 hour group ticket are available for the whole public transport system.

Public Transport
Take the S-Bahn at the Airport (line S1 - Blankenese /Wedel) to Othmarschen. From Othmarschen take Metrobus 1 to DESY, Hünengrab (2,75 Euro, 50 minutes).
Taxi
From airport to DESY (35,00 Euro, approx. 20-40 minutes).

Take the shuttle to ZOB (Hamburg main train station). The bus timetable is scheduled to coincide with the arrival of all scheduled flights of the operating airline. The bus stops right in front of the terminal (one-way 9 Euro; 60 minutes).
At ZOB, take the S-Bahn (S1) to Othmarschen. From Othmarschen take Metrobus 1 to DESY, Hünengrab (2,70 Euro; 20 minutes).
Train
Take the train to Hamburg-Altona, from there take either:
Public Transport
Metrobus 1 (direction Schenefelder Holt) directly to the main entrance of DESY (bus stop Zum Hünengrab/DESY) (2,75 Euro; 25 minutes)
or
take S-Bahn S1 or S11 (direction Blankenese/Wedel) to Othmarschen. From Othmarschen take Metrobus 1 (direction Schenefelder Holt) to DESY, Hünengrab (2,75 Euro; 15 minutes).
Taxi
Taxi to DESY, Hünengrab (15 Euro; 20 minutes).
Car
From motorway A7, take the exit Bahrenfeld (near the Elbe tunnel). At the traffic lights, turn in a westerly direction towards 'Wedel' (B431).
After about 2 km, turn right into the Notkestrasse, where DESY is signposted. After about 50 0m turn left into the main gate of DESY.
