Data collection forms
You must record your experiments in the yellow logbooks available at each beamline. The MX logbooks give detailed information about each of your experiments. Data sets must also be input via the Registered Usergourp Access-pages.
Data backup
All EMBL beamlines for protein crystallography are controlled by Linux PCs or Unix computers. A short guide to the data handling facilities is available at the beamlines.
EMBL does not provide backup of external users' data. The data are routinely deleted from the disks two weeks after visitors leave EMBL unless explicit arrangements have been made with the EMBL staff supervising the project or with the system administrator. Therefore, external users must back up all of their data (using ftp, external USB hard discs, laptops, etc.) before leaving. External users are responsible for securing their data.
Backup to tape is no longer provided.
External hard disks can be connected via USB to the data processing machines as well as the computers in the user lab.
We also have a DVD robot to automatically burn collected data to DVDs.
