The questions will be gathered in advance by the organisers and passed to the panel for consideration. Practical Sessions 5 groups of four students. Long practicals of two 3hr sessions on adjacent days. These five practicals (repeated 5 times !!!) are A. Prokaryotic Expression (Jeanne Perry, Gunter Stier, Frank Lehmann) B. Baculovirus Expression (Tom Kost, Eleni Mumtsidu, Arie Geerlof) C. Protein Purification (Joanne Yeh, Young-Hwa Song, Matthew Groves) D. Protein Characterisation, ITC & DLS (Alan Cooper, Bernhard Rupp, Preben Morth) E. Membrane Protein Preparation & Crystallisation( Reinhard Grisshammer, Andy Freer, Simone Weyand, Katja Schirwitz) Short practicals of one 3hr session. These five practicals (some may be repeated 5 times !!!) are E. Membrane Protein Preparation & Crystallisation( Reinhard Grisshammer, Andy Freer, Simone Weyand, Katja Schirwitz) F. Vapour diffusion methods(Alex McPherson, Brice Kauffmann) G. Seeding and Batch mehods for crystallization (Terese Bergfors, Jack King-Scott) H. Crystallization in lipic cubic phases (Joanne Yeh, Simone Weyand, Katja Schirwitz) I. Dialysis and free interface diffusion methods(Bernhard Rupp) The table below shows which practicals will be run in which time slots (1-15). So for example Tom and Eleni (Practical B) will have Student Group I in Practical Sessions 3 and 4 (Thu 12th 16.30-19.30 and Friday 13th 10.00-13.00), Student Group II in Practical Sessions 5 and 6 and so on.
