The Art of Science exhibit looks at the beauty inherent in
the three-dimensional structures of proteins. Nature
produces fascinating shapes, such as the long strands of
collagen and the spherical shells of viruses. This exhibit
highlights the visual beauty of these structures, while
providing information about their function. The images
presented are based on structures Protein Data Bank (PDB).
The RCSB PDB is operated by three members of the Research
Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics -- Rutgers, The
State University of New Jersey; the San Diego Supercomputer
Center at the University of California, San Diego; and the
Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology/UMBI/NIST --
(RCSB). The RCSB PDB is supported by funds from the NSF,
NIGMS, the Office of Science, DOE, NLM, NCI, NCRR, NIBIB,
and NINDS.
The RCSB is a member of the Worldwide Protein Data Bank
(www.wwpdb.org), a virtual organization consisting of
RCSB, MSD-EBI, and PDBj.
