 | Integrating Structural Biology in Grenoble. | |
|
 |
On a single site in Grenoble co-exist the world-leading neutron and
X-ray sources, ILL and ESRF, and the EMBL Grenoble Outstation. These
three international organisations, together with two French national
laboratories (the IBS and the IVMS) are establishing an integrated
structural biology environment, the Center for Integrated Structural
Biology (CISB), with additional support from the EU via SPINE,
BIOXHIT and other grants. The CISB will provide state-of-the-art,
automated facilities for protein expression, isotope labelling,
crystallisation and structure determination (X-ray, neutron, EM,
NMR) which will be applied to a variety of problems related to
human biology and disease.
The talk will describe technical innovations made in Grenoble in
instrumentation for automated crystallography using synchrotron
radiation and in protein expression as well as some structural
biology results on structural proteomics projects which are part
of SPINE.
