Diamond Light Source
Diamond is the new 3rd generation UK synchrotron facility being built
on the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory site in South Oxfordshire. This
3GeV machine is due to come on line for users in 2007. Currently three
beamlines dedicated to macromolecular crystallography have been
approved as 'Year 1 beamlines'. The plans for these beamlines along
with an outline of the machine and its progress in construction will
be presented.
Additionally there are plans for further beamlines in the area of
Life Science as part Phase 2.
Thus Diamond presents a healthy and exciting opportunity for future
synchrotron research in the Life Sciences.
