| X-ray structure based design for lead generation and optimization | |

Several examples will be presented that show how X-ray crystallographic
methods in combination with computational chemistry and biophysical
screening support the drug discovery process. This will include crystal
engineering, crystallographic fragment screening and the use of
structural information for rapid optimization of a lead compound by a
chemistry program.
