 | Manfred Roessle - SAXS: New Sources and Challenges | |
|
 |
Manfred Roessle
EMBL, Hamburg Outstation, Germany
The upcoming synchrotron based X-ray sources will increase the possibilities for SAXS within the next decade. Static solution scattering will turn into time resolved SAXS with micro-second resolution and the much brighter X-ray sources allow one investigations of macromolecules with nano-liter volumes.
Starting from these developments novel SAXS/WAXS applications and experiments proposed for the BioSAXS beamline at PETRA-III will be explained.
New concepts and technologies such as: high throughput SAXS screening techniques in microfluidic devices for exploring enzymatic reactions, ultra time resolved SAXS, few (single?!) particles scattering in frozen samples and SAXS proteomics which a combination of microfluidic and capillary electrophoresis will be shown. The possibilities for single particle scattering will be further discussed in the scope of coherent scattering on synchrotron based sources and in the light of new developed X-ray lasers.
