Three-dimensional bead models of proteins in solution are routinely determined from one-dimensional SAS data. The Situs software provides a set of registration procedures to facilitate the localization of protein structures in low-resolution SAS bead models. Our algorithms for rigid-body and flexible docking were adapted from related docking scenarios in Electron Microscopy. For > 100 beads typically arising in SAS models, a docking precision on the order of one or two Angstroms can be achieved. The software, a tutorial, and supplementary data are available at situs.biomachina.org/saxs.
