Basic X-ray Crystallography

This elementary course on X-ray crystallography originated from a lecture on the method which was held for the first time on July 06, 2002 in Heidelberg at an international practical workshop for biology teachers organized by EMBO, the European Molecular Biology Organisation.

I realize of course that the 29 beautiful slides by themselves without the accompanying words may be less useful than the complete lecture. For this reason, short explanatory notes have been prepared when it was deemed necessary. These can be accessed by clicking on the three question marks. A separate window will then open. In order to improve the notes or the whole course in general, I would like to encourage everybody to send me their questions, criticism and comments concerning the pages and their contents.
