Scattering of X-rays (basics)
Patrice Vachette
IBBMC, UMR 8619 CNRS-Universite Paris-sud, Orsay, France
The lecture will start with a reminder of some basic notions and results such as the Fourier transform and its main properties, the convolution product, the autocorrelation function, the scattering by a free electron, the notion of contrast, etc. The scattering by an ideal solution of identical particles will then be developed. The main relationships used to derive structural parameters will be presented and commented with emphasis on the underlying assumptions and the need to check their validity. They will be illustrated by examples.
